The Newton Yacht Club has a long tradition of service to the community and has always been active in supporting many aspects of recreational boating. The members of the Newton Yacht Club host a number of community events each year, contributing their time and the use of the facilities to introduce others to the beautiful Charles River area. Below are just a few of the community events the NYC has holds each year:

Every year in May, NYC members and their families sponsor checkpoint #5 at the annual Walk For Hunger.

The Perkins School for the blind is a heartwarming annual event at the NYC. Club members take students and counselors for a Charles River cruise and return to a cookout. The smiles and excitement on the kids faces is always a very rewarding feeling

Another annual event, the New England Chapter of the Paralyzed Veterans of America (NEPVA) Fishing day is a great way for us to show support for our men and women of the military. Starting before the sun rises, the men and women of the NEPVA are loaded into boats by the Nam Knights, spend the day fishing on the Charles River and return to an awards ceremony and cookout.
